Interview with
Shonda Sue
Q: When did you first start singing and why?
A: When I was 8 - I started because I wanted to be in a talent contest.

Q: Do you remember the first song you performed?
A: Why Haven’t I Heard from You?

Q: Why did you choose this song?
A: It was my favorite artist and song at the time.

Q: You perform both country and gospel music, do you like one better than the other?
A: I like them both but I have always wanted to sing country. Gospel is very inspiring - it makes it easier to be more upbeat.

Q: What does God mean to you?
A: He’s the most important thing in my life. He’s there no matter what - always listens to me. Helps me figure out all my problems.

Q: How has the Lord blessed your life?
A: Good family, good Christian home, supportive friends, my gift for singing.

Q: Who do you look up to in the music business and why?
A: Faith Hill because she was brave enough to try to conquer two different genres of music and she did it. She’s awesome!

Q: Who are your favorite country artists?
A: Faith Hill, Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, Martina McBride, Keith Urban.

Q: Who are your favorite Christian artists?
A: Jaci Velasquez, Plus 1, Rebecca St. James, MercyMe, Rachael Lampa, Nichole Nordeman, Jump 5, Stacie Orrico.

Q: Who are your favorite pop artists?
A: Aaron Carter, Britney Spears, Christina Aquilera, Justin Timberlake, Avril Lavigne. They are good dancers, great performers - especially Britney Spears. I also like Jesse McCartney and Hilary Duff.

Q: Do you play any musical instruments?
A: I don’t like to practice, but I play piano.

Q: How often do you usually practice singing?
A: Usually about two hours every day during my concert season.

Q: Are you ever nervous when you perform?
A: Only when I perform the National Anthem - there’s a lot of people, it’s hard to sing and it’s a song you don’t want to mess up.

Q: If you could sing a duet with anyone in the music business, who would it be and what song?
A: Faith Hill, anything by her.
